Renamed Meredale Infant School in 1949, the school continued to serve the children of Rainham for a further 54 years before it was closed by Medway Council in July 2003. The school was saved from possible demolition by Kinder Groups, a Kent-based day nursery provider, which acquired the premises in April 2004 with the intention of restoring the building to its former Edwardian splendour, prior to its re-opening as Merdale Independent School in January 2005 - hopefully to serve the children in the area for another 99 years ! |
